I see very close parallels between the classroom and shooting a bow and arrow. My first shot is almost always center of the bullseye. Impressive, I know. After my smooth first shot I hit rough patches and find myself hitting all over the target. After a few rounds I get the arrows close again and centered on the bullseye. In the classroom I see the same trends. My students might hit the bullseye of a target, or my teaching might hit the bullseye, and some might not. With the bow and arrow I never just stop shooting after my first shot since I've already hit the bullseye. I keep working at it until I find consistency and I feel accomplished. I am persistent to get my arrows in a small cluster, or all my students on the same page. Hopefully this is a helpful metaphor to describe my teaching style. I want my students, my students' parents, and everyone around me to know that I am determined, and I will always seek the feeling of success in myself and in my students.
